Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Lung brings a thoughtful and integrative approach to psychological care, drawing on decades of clinical experience working with individuals across different stages of life. While her early work was grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), her practice has evolved to incorporate a flexible integration of evidence-based approaches tailored to the needs of each client.
While her early work was grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dr. Lung's approach has evolved into a fluid integration of specific skills from a number of therapy approaches, with the ultimate goal of helping clients to uncover sources of their struggles and arriving at solutions in a respectful and supportive client-and-therapist relationship.
Dr. Lung provides clinical-diagnostic, cognitive, as well as psychoeducational assessments to children, youths, and adults. These assessments help clarify developmental, learning, socio-emotional, and/or behavioural concerns and guide recommendations for psychological treatment, individual education plan (IEP), and/or academic supports.
She also offers psychotherapy to older adolescents and adults addressing trauma, depression and mood-related challenges, anxiety and stress-related concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, parenting concerns, interpersonal problems, and daily adjustment difficulties.
Dr. Lung is also a WSIB-approved mental health provider, offering both psychological assessment and psychological treatment.
Dr. Lung integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities, including:
Originally from Hong Kong, Dr. Lung moved to California in her twenties where she completed a master’s degree in counselling psychology at the University of Southern California. She later immigrated to Canada and completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at York University. Her doctoral dissertation received the Tanaka Memorial Dissertation Award from the American Psychological Association, a dissertation that was selected as the best among more than 40 entries worldwide.
Dr. Lung has had over 27 years of experiences providing psychological assessment treatment to the public, including children, adolescents, and adults. Trauma has been a major area of focus throughout her clinical career.
Over the past decade, Dr. Lung worked as a school psychologist at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), supporting children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders, learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and social-emotional concerns. Following her work at TDSB, she served as the Clinical Director of a children and youth centre, where she oversaw clinical services and supported its multidisciplinary team.
Dr. Lung now works as a consulting psychologist at Positive Minds Psychotherapy Services.
